Amiri King is an American YouTuber and well known social media personality who publishes videos on his self titled YouTube channel “Amiri King”. Amiri King was born in Louisville, KY, in 1979, as Tony Donovan Schork. He would later change his name in 1998.
Amiri spent his life in and out of mental health institutions and boys homes beginning at the age of 8. These institutions include:
In between these stints, Amiri also spent time living on the streets of Louisville.
At the age of 16, Amiri King was charged with 1st degree armed robbery. He was facing a term of 20 years and had a $100 k full cash bond. He susequently pled guilty to 2nd degree robbery and was released from prison at the age of 21.
He then lived in several homeless shelters including the Wayside Christian Mission and the Healing Place.
Trying to leave the past behind, Amiri focused on sharing his story with at risk youth at local high schools and Ala-teen meetings.
He later moved out of Louisville and sought a fresh start in Nicholasville, KY.
He landed a job as a landscaper and started dabbling in film on the side. Amiri started his first YouTube account in September of 2007 and later became a partner in 2013.
